Ordering and Administering Vaccines with VaxCare
- Order correct vaccine under an appropriate diagnosis in A/P section of encounter.
2. Select Sign Orders
3. Verify order was signed by making sure it has turned gray
4. Enter your 4-digit pin to log into VaxCare mobile hub
5. Select your patient from the scheduled appointments on VaxCare mobile hub
6. Run the eligibility check on mobile hub for the patient before scanning doses
7. Scan the square QR code of the vaccine vial that contains the medication of the ordered vaccine.
8. Select your administration site. This information will feed to Athena.
9. Complete check out and log out of mobile hub
10. After you have scanned the vaccine on the VaxCare mobile hub and administered the vaccine to the patient, you then need to document in Athena. Find the order in the provider’s staff bucket under Orders/Rxs/Auths.
11. You will need to document you have given the VIS, that you administered the complete vaccine, the date and time, and then close the order by selecting Close-Administer.
*If the patient declines the vaccine, do not delete the order. Select ‘not given’ and the reason. You may also document more details in the action note on the vaccine order*
