Add electronic provider signature to outbound faxed documents
This article purpose is to assist with adding the provider electronic signature to a faxed PDF of the providers notes (i.e. care plan oversight, home health oversight, etc.) faxed in by the external provider.
Providers can add either a signature or just an electronic signature to a faxed PDF document by using the Annotate with Tools option from within the document view. In order for this functionality to work properly, the provider will need to have a signature stored within athena and that signature should be configured for athenaOne.
The following steps need to be followed by the provider:
Note: This workflow applies to the "Annotation Tool" within Physician Authorization documents.
From the patient chart:
- Click on the document to view
- The document needs to be in Review status in order to Annotate. If the document is in Closed status:
- Click View Actions
- Select Reopen
- Click Save
- Once the document is in Review status, click annotate with tools
- Select Signature Timestamp from the drop down in upper left corner of annotation screen
- Click Add
- Drag the electronic signature stamp to where the signature needs to be located on the document
- Once you have it lined up where you want it to be, click the screen to place the stamp
- Click Save & Back
- If this needs to be sent somewhere: the option Annotation Complete: Submit by Fax & Next would be the appropriate action
